Wrap: Missouri's House Committee on Education passed a substitute to the Senate's education bill in a rush to get it to the House floor.

Democrat from St. Louis County Representative Genise Montecillo said the rush to get this bill to the floor would only hurt progress for improving the education problem in Missouri.

Description: "And for you not to be able to recognize or not to acknowledge that there is a clean transfer bill there. I had a substitute and I had an amendment that is a clean transfer bill. You are refusing by not even allowing this committee to hear a clean transfer bill. You are pushing your agenda."

The bill will now be debated on the House floor.

Wrap: Missouri's House Committee on Education recently passed a substitute version of the Senate's education bill aimed at assisting unaccredited school districts with transfers.

St. Louis County Democrat Representative Genise Montecillo had prepared another substitute measure that would deal with transfers only, but her proposal was not heard since the committee was rushing to completion.

Actuality:  HOUSEED3.WAV
Run Time:  00:05
Description: "There are some very good ideas in this bill but they're going to be problematic. Let's do those separate."

Supporters of the bill as a whole recognize that it has some issues and want it debate on the House floor.
