Medicaid Recipients Protest Cuts at Capitol

Medicaid recipients piled crutches, walkers, prosthetic limbs and pill bottles in the Capitol rotunda to protest Gov. Blunt's proposed Medicaid cuts. Sharon Delgaudio has more from the state Capitol.

Medicaid beneficiaries stormed the Capitol, many of them in wheelchairs, in an effort to show lawmakers the everyday items that Medicaid would no longer cover if Gov. Blunt's proposed budget cuts pass.

Rev. Mike McGuire, a Medicaid recipient and advocate of the disabled, expressed his disappointment that government is even considering cutting these benefits.

Gov. Blunt's press secretary says the governor believes Missouri has been living beyond its means with Medicaid.

He also says voters have consistently rejected tax increases while there is still pressure to devote more money to education.
