Intro: Republican House Representatives selected Joplin's Ron Richard over St. Louis County Republican Allen Icet as Speaker-elect during Wednesday's annual veto session.

Republicans selected Joplin Representative Ron Richard as Speaker-elect for the 2009 legislative session.

 

Richard will serve in the most powerful House position, if the Republicans hold on to the majority through 2008. But Richard isn't worried.

Richard will work closely with current Speaker Rod Jetton before he succeeds to the most powerful position in the House.
