Before he asked the nation to guess the price of a refrigerator without going over, Price is Right host Bob Barker was attending high school and college in Springfield, Missouri.

Barker made his first trip ever to Jefferson City to accept a bronze statue of himself and said before it was unveiled that he hoped he looked cute.

Since retired from the legendary show, Barker reflects back on its message:

Actuality:  BARKER2.WAV
Run Time: 00:19
Description: Our show was one that, we did not solve the problems of the world.  We deliberately avoided them.  What we tried to accomplish is to help people forget their troubles for an hour and to enjoy themselves and I hope that is what we have done.

Barker welcomed his statue into its new home at the capitol by giving it a kiss on the cheek.

Barker said he had not been back to Springfield since May when he accepted an honorary doctorate from his alma mater Drury College.

Barker along with Jetton unveiled a bronze scultpure of himself that will be on display at the capitol alongside other famous Missourians such as Walt Disney and Walter Cronkite.

When asked if he spread his message of animal control to lawmakers, Barker said they had other things to ask him.
