Kansas Citians hardest hit by this week's flash and Missouri River flooding are now trying to keep themselves and their belongings dry.

Curt Holden reports from Jefferson City.

Flood plain management teams are assessing flooding damages along the Missouri River but are focusing most on the Kansas City and western Missouri River areas.

Missouri State Emergency Agency Deputy Director Buck Katt says he and his team are trying to establish a basis to seek a Presidential Decalaration for federal emergency relief funding.

Federal emergency relief funds would provide eligible Missouri River flood victims temporary housing, individual family grants, unemployment, and medical expenses.

Reporting from Jefferson City, I'm Curt Holden.
