BACKER BACKS OUT, CRUMP WINS MISSOURI MAJORITY FLOOR LEADER POSITION

The Missouri Democratic Caucus has new Majority Floor Leader for whom Missouri Democrats [[[[didn't even vote.]]]]]]]]

Curt Holden reports from Jefferson City.

State Representative Wayne Crump gained the Majority Floor Leader position because his opponent, Gracia Backer, withdrew from the election just before the vote.

Crump says he will bring his own leadership style to the Majority Floor Leader position.

Fearing a near certain loss for re-election, the only woman in the leadership of Missouri's legislature gave up her post today/ Thursday.

Democratic State Representative Gracia Backer withdrew from the Majority Floor Leader election allowing Wayne Crump to gain the position uncontested.

Crump says maintaining party unity is his goal for the next session.
