Hotly debated partial-birth abortions aren't taking place in Missouri

Despite all the political rhetoric about partial-birth abortions, none have ever been reported in Missouri. That's the word from the Health Department.

If a partial-birth abortion has taken place in Missouri, it should be reported to the Health Department. They've seen nothing.

Governor Carnahan and state legislators spent much of the $23,000 a day special session arguing over abortion bills.

Senator Peter Kinder explained why the governor may have added the issue to the special session.

Meanwhile, a governor's spokesman said the governor's office just wanted to get a bill passed while the issue was still on legislators' minds.
