No more shotgun marriages in Missouri.

House legislation will aim to end shotgun marriages in Missouri.

Two bills before the Children, Youth, and Family committee would make it more difficult for Missouri couples to get married.

One measure would require Missouri couples to take pre-marriage counseling before getting married.

Another would give couples the choice of either counseling or a thirty day waiting period before they could get hitched.

Pre-marital counseling is important says Kansas City minister Larson.

Supporters say the legislation could stem the increasing divorce rates in the state of Missouri.
