Missouri Bridges Score Low.

More than ten thousand bridges in Missouri are deficient, according to the Federal Highway Administration. But Missouri officials say that number is misleading. Allison Girvin has the story from Jefferson City.

Missouri Transportation Department officials say ten thousand bridges in Missouri are NOT unsafe, they just aren't up to speed with today's standards.

With new rules every year on shoulder size and weight loads for new bridges being built, the older bridges just can't keep up.

Mike Nelson, Assistant Chief in charge of bridges, says travelers have nothing to worry about.
